SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) is currently running its 100,000 tonne/year epichlorohydrin (ECH) unit at Mailiao at around 70-80% of capacity, a company source said on Tuesday.
The plant is running at lower rates because of weak market conditions, the source said.
FPC was operating the unit at 80-90% in early November.
There are currently no scheduled maintenance for the plant in the near term, the source said.
As the end of the year draws near, Asian ECH buyers prefer to keep inventories low, while the region is beset with an oversupply of the material, market sources said.
