SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Samsung Fine Chemicals is operating its 60,000 tonne/year epichlorohydrin (ECH) plant in Daesan at 100% of capacity amid stable demand for the product, a company source said on Tuesday.

The company is currently operating the unit at full rates on stable-to-firm demand in the domestic South Korean market despite prevailing weak demand in the other Asian regions, the source added.

ECH prices fell by $30-60/tonne (€23-46/tonne) week on week to $1,500-1,540/tonne CFR (cost & freight) China on 27 November, according to ICIS data.

According to the source, Samsung Fine Chemicals may reduce operating ratio in the near term, depending on the market conditions at the time.
