SINGAPORE (ICIS)--SINOPEC SABIC Tianjin Petrochemical shut its high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant in Tianjin on 4 December because of some mechanical issue, a company source said on Tuesday.
The 300,000 tonne/year HDPE plant was taken off line because of an instability issue found in an oil pump, the source said.
The maintenance will last for three days, the source added.
The shutdown is likely to lead to tight supply of HDPE, which in turn can result in slight increase in prices, market participants said.
