SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Hengli Petrochemical plans to restart its 2.2m tonne/year No 1 purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit in Dalian in Liaoning province next week, delayed from initial plan because of unfavourable market conditions, a company source said on Thursday.
The unit was shut on 28 November and the shutdown was initially planned for one week, the source said.
The company’s 2.2m tonne/year No 2 PTA unit at the same site is currently running at 100% capacity, the source added.
Discussion prices for Asia’s spot PTA of Taiwan-origin rose by $30/tonne (€23/tonne) week on week to $1,145-1,150/tonne CFR (cost & freight) China Main Port (CMP) on 6 December morning, but feedstock paraxylene (PX) prices surged by $65/tonne to $1,640-1,650/tonne CFR CMP for the same period of time, according to ICIS.
