Trinidad utility says no cutbacks in place for petchem producers

HOUSTON (ICIS)--The state-owned utility in Trinidad and Tobago said on Thursday that petrochemical producers there should now be receiving full supplies of natural gas.

An employee at National Gas Company (NGC) said the utility has recovered fully from the power outage in mid-November.

Any natural gas supply problems now are producer-related and not because of NGC, the employee said.

“There’s no curtailment going on right now,” the employee said.

Methanol, ammonia and other petrochemical producers at the Point Lisas Industrial Estate in Trinidad have operated for much of this year without full natural gas supplies because of work being done on offshore platforms.
