HOUSTON (ICIS)--Shell has isolated a seven-mile segment of a pipeline in Louisiana after a leak was detected at a mainline valve, the company said on Thursday.
A temporary flare has been installed to remove the remaining product in the section of the pipeline, a spokesperson said, adding that a second flare would be set up later on Thursday.
The cause of the incident is being investigated, the spokesperson added.
Shell was also heard to have shut down its olefins Norco complex in Louisiana because it could not ship ethylene out of the facility.
