SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Mitsubishi Chemical Polycarbonate (Beijing) restarted its 150,000 tonne/year bisphenol A (BPA) unit at Yanshan in Beijing on 6 December, a company source said on Friday.
The plant was taken off line on 21 November because of a mechanical problem and was initially scheduled to resume operations on 28 November.
Its downstream 30,000 tonne/year No 2 polycarbonate (PC) unit was shut early this month, and its 30,000 tonne/year No 1 PC unit has been shut since 23 October. The definite date for their restart has not been decided, the source added.
Sinopec Mitsubishi Chemical Polycarbonate (Beijing) is a joint venture between Chinese major Sinopec and Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical and Mitsubishi Engineering Plastics.
