SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's PetroChina Urumqi Petrochemical has shut its 500,000 tonne/year urea unit in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Friday for maintenance, a company source said.
“The company took off line the unit in response to the lack of feedstock natural gas, but the restart time has not been decided,” the source said.
The shutdown of plant will reduce supply and is likely to push up urea prices in Xinjiang, according to the source.
