TOKYO (ICIS)--Japanese chemical producer Maruzen Petrochemical on Friday posted a net loss of yen (Y) 5.21bn ($63.3m) during April-June 2012, due partly to a decrease in demand.
Maruzen had previously recorded a net profit of Y1.13bn in the same period a year earlier, the company said in a statement.
It posted an operating loss of Y3.60bn for the six months to 30 September 2012, swinging from an operating profit of Y2.36bn the previous year, while net sales were down by 17% year on year to Y163.6bn, according to Maruzen Petrochemical.
