LONDON (ICIS)--3M is to expand the capacity of its polymer production facility in Decatur, Alabama, by upgrading equipment at the site, the US-based conglomerate said on Monday.
The expansion of the facility, which produces polymers for the fluoroelastomer and polymer processing additive industries, is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2013, the company said. The Decatur plant is the company’s largest fluoroelastomer manufacturing facility. 3M did not disclose the size of the anticipated capacity increase or the cost of the investment.3M’s fluoropolymers are used in the automotive, aerospace and chemical processing sectors, according to the company.
