HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-based industrial gases producer Air Products plans to shut down a plant in Pasadena, Texas, and lay off 52 workers, according to a government filing made available on Monday.

The plant should shut down in January, and the layoff process should be complete by the end of that month, Air Products said in the filing with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).

The filing did not specify what Air Products makes at the plant.

However, the company said in its annual report that it owns a plant in Pasadena, Texas, that produces the polyurethane intermediate toluenediamine and that it planned to close the plant.

Earlier this year, Air Products said it planned to leave the polyurethane intermediates business.

Air Products did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
