SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Oriental Petrochemical (Shanghai) Corp restarted its 700,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Shanghai on 7 December, following a turnaround which began on 25 November, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.
The restart date was delayed for one week, the source added, without specifying the reason.
The source also indicated that delaying the restart of the PTA plant had no impact on the producer’s contract supply.
Many PTA producers in China are facing negative margins because of the rising prices of feedstock paraxylene (PX).
The price uptrend for PX is set to continue, according to market sources.
