US Dow seeks federal permit for planned Texas cracker

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical has applied to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for an air-quality permit to build its planned cracker at ?xml:namespace>Freeport, Texas, according to correspondence made available on Tuesday.
Dow said previously that the project will have an ethylene capacity of 1.5m tonnes/year, with start-up expected for 2017. The project is entering its front-end engineering and design (FEED) stage.
