US Dow seeks federal permit for planned Texas cracker

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical has applied to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for an air-quality permit to build its planned cracker at Freeport, Texas, according to correspondence made available on Tuesday.

Dow said previously that the project will have an ethylene capacity of 1.5m tonnes/year, with start-up expected for 2017. The project is entering its front-end engineering and design (FEED) stage.

A Dow media official was not immediately available for additional comment.
