TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan's production of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) fell by 26% year on year to 38,137 tonnes in October 2012, official data from an industry association show on Wednesday.
The country's domestic shipments of VAM for polyvinyl alcohol (pvoh) production declined by 20% to 28,562 tonnes in October from the same time a year earlier, while shipments for adhesives fell by 18% to 2,679 tonnes, according to VAM pvoh industry association Sakubi Poval kogyokai.
Meanwhile, Japan's production of pvoh was down by 15% to 15,955 tonnes in October 2012 from a year earlier, the association data show.
The country's domestic shipments of pvoh for vinylon fibres decreased by 7% year on year to 3,857 tonnes in October, while shipments for adhesives increased by 29% to 1,831 tonnes, based on the statistics.
