US ABS October exports up by 13% year on year – ITC

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) exports for October were up by 13% year on year, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Wednesday.

Exports increased to 6,788 tonnes from 6,025 tonnes in October 2011, the ITC said.

Year to date, exports of ABS have totalled 70,662 tonnes, a decrease of 2.3% from the same period in 2011.

Top destinations for US ABS exports in October were Mexico, Canada and China.

October imports totaled 10,798 tonnes, an increase of 23% year on year.

Taiwan, South Korea and Mexico were the top three ports of origin for ABS material shipped to the US in October.

Year to date, 119,190 tonnes have been imported, an increase of 11% year on year.

US producers of ABS include INEOS ABS, Network Polymers, SABIC Innovative Plastics and Styron.
