HOUSTON (ICIS)--US polyvinyl chloride (PVC) exports were 255,100 tonnes in October, down 2.3% from the same month a year earlier, according to US International Trade Commission (ITC) data made available on Wednesday.
Exports of PVC were also down 13% from the 293,513 tonnes shipped in September, the ITC said.
In the first 10 months of 2012, the US has shipped 2,505,489 tonnes of PVC, 5.6% more than the 2,373,705 tonnes shipped during the same period of 2011.
Canada was the top destination for US PVC exports in October at 35,220 tonnes, followed by Egypt (26,352 tonnes), Mexico (25,121 tonnes) and Russia (20,661 tonnes).
Meanwhile, imports of PVC in the US in October were 23,329 tonnes in October, up 11% from the same month of 2011 and up 3.5% from the 22,531 tonnes receives in September.
Major US PVC producers include Westlake Chemical, PPG Industries, Occidental Chemical, Formosa Plastics, Shintech and Georgia Gulf.
