HOUSTON (ICIS)--US polycarbonate (PC) exports for October were down by 15% year on year, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Wednesday.
Exports decreased to 30,049 tonnes from 35,391 tonnes in October 2011, the ITC said.
Year to date, PC exports were 358,400 tonnes, an increase of 6.7% from the same period in 2011.
Top destinations for US PC exports in October were China, Mexico and Korea.
Imports were 8,123 tonnes in October, up sharply year on year from 3,583 tonnes in October 2011.
Belgium, Singapore and Spain were the top three ports of origin for PC material shipped to the US in October.
For the year, 54,553 tonnes have been imported, a year-on-year increase of 35%.
US producers of PC include Bayer MaterialScience, SABIC Innovative Plastics and Styron.
