HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butyl acetate (butac) exports in October jumped 66% year on year on greater shipments to Brazil, Mexico and India, according to data released on Wednesday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US butac exports totalled 4,952 tonnes in October, compared with 2,984 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
The largest destination, Mexico, received 1,603 tonnes, compared with 1,002 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
Shipments to Brazil - the second largest destination - totalled 984 tonnes, a huge increase over 120 tonnes sent there in October 2011. India received 500 tonnes, compared with none shipped there in the same month last year.
Major US butac producers include Dow Chemical, Eastman Chemical and Oxea Group.
