HOUSTON (ICIS)--October 2012 exports were at 141,533 tonnes, down by 12,505 tonnes or 8% from 154,038 tonnes in October 2011, according to data made available on Wednesday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
The October exports were up, however, by 25% from 113,094 tonnes in September.
The top three destinations for styrene in October were Mexico, Brazil and the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, October 2012 imports were at 19,468 tonnes, down by 29,308 tonnes or 60% from the same time a year earlier. The October imports were also down by 27% from 26,770 tonnes the previous month.
Canada has been the only source of US styrene imports in 2012.
Major US styrene producers include Americas Styrenics, Styrolution, LyondellBasell, Total and Westlake.
