HOUSTON (ICIS)--BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals on Wednesday confirmed its Port Arthur cracker in Texas was off line as a result of an equipment failure earlier this week.

The 934,000 tonne/year ethylene unit went down on Monday, a spokesperson said, adding that the company was still assessing the necessary repairs.

“It is unknown at this time when we will restart,” the spokesperson said.

The cracker is a joint venture between BASF and Total.
