HOUSTON (ICIS)--KBR was awarded an ammonia technology licence agreement for Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals' planned world-scale fertilizer plant in Nigeria, the US engineering firm said on Thursday.

Indorama's 2,300 tonnes/day ammonia plant in Port Harcourt will use KBR’s Purifier technology, the firm said.

“Africa is considered one of the largest emerging markets for the fertilizer business, and it is a great source of pride for us to be associated with one of the world’s most dynamic companies for this breakthrough project,” said John Derbyshire, president of KBR Technology.

The firm was also the licensor for Indorama’s ethylene plant in Port Harcourt.
