SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Hengli Petrochemical shut its 2.2m tonne/year No 2 purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Dalian in Liaoning province on 12 December for short maintenance, a company source said on Friday.
“The shutdown will last around one week and we will take the chance to optimise operation parameters for the new facility,” the source said.
Hengli has been running its No 2 PTA unit at 100% capacity since mid-November after the unit started up on 20-21 October.
Earlier on 8 December Hengli restarted its 2.2m tonne/year No 1 PTA unit at the same site after shutting it down for 11 days considering poor market conditions.
“We aim to achieve full capacity and stable operations at the two PTA plants following the round of shutdowns,” the source said.
The company has largely reached term supply agreement for 2013 with Chinese customers for 80% of its commercial sales volume of a total 3m tonne/year, the source added.
