SINGAPORE (ICIS)--German producer Wacker Chemie said on Friday it has officially opened its new headquarters for the Greater China region, which covers Taiwan, in Shanghai.
The company’s Shanghai Centre houses numerous laboratories for research and development and applications technology, Wacker said in a statement.
The centre should help Wacker in its plan to “further expand its technology leadership in high-quality silicone and polymer products for the Chinese market,” it said.
“The Greater China region has evolved into our single most important market. China is the world’s largest chemical market. We expect Chinese demand for high-quality chemical products to keep rising in the years ahead,” said Wacker president and CEO Rudolf Staudigl in the statement.
China generates €1bn ($1.3bn) in sales for Wacker, accounting for about a fifth of the German firm’s revenues.
