Japan’s Idemitsu acquires Australia's Freedom Energy Holdings

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd acquired 100% of Australian petroleum product distributor Freedom Energy Holdings on 14 December for an undisclosed amount, the Japanese refiner said on Monday.

Based in Brisbane, Queensland, Freedom Energy operates about 40 gas stations in the east coast of Australia, Idemitsu said in a statement.

The acquisition is part of Idemitsu Kosan's strategy to enhance its overseas petroleum products business, it said.
