MELBOURNE (ICIS)--Mitsui Phenol Singapore, a unit of Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals, has increased its second-half December acetone price by $20/tonne (€15/tonne) to $1,130/tonne in Singapore, a company source said on Tuesday.
The price increase was prompted by the gains in acetone prices in the key China market, together with firm upstream benzene and propylene costs.
Mitsui Phenol Singapore’s phenol/acetone plant at Jurong Island in Singapore can produce 300,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 180,000 tonnes/year of acetone.
The company announces its acetone ex-tank price twice a month. Its first-half acetone ex-tank price was at $1,110/tonne ex-tank.
