SINGAPORE (ICIS)--SCG-DOW restarted its 390,000 tonne/year propylene oxide (PO) plant at the Asia Industrial Estate site near Map Ta Phut, Thailand, in the late evening of 17 December, a company source said on Tuesday.

However, the PO plant’s operating rate cannot be confirmed for now, the source added.

The PO plant was taken off line after experiencing an unexpected technical issue on 29 November.  It was originally scheduled to be restarted on 15 December.

The production facility employs environmentally sustainable hydrogen-peroxide-to-propylene-oxide (HPPO) technology.

SCG-DOW Group is a joint venture between US-based Dow Chemical and Thailand’s Siam Cement Group (SCG).
