LONDON (ICIS)--BASF has completed the sale of its Capcure line of epoxy curative agents to US specialty chemicals firm Gabriel Performance Products, the Germany-based company said on Wednesday.

Established 45 years ago, the Capcure range of mercaptan-based curatives are used in epoxy curing applications that require rapid room temperature cure, BASF said.

“The transaction allows BASF to further optimise its product portfolio after the acquisition of Cognis in 2010," said Detlef Ruff, BASF's vice president of global strategy, new business and product development for Dispersions & Pigments.

The transaction allows for a 60-day transition period, running until 15 February 2013, to ensure that a reliable supply of the material is maintained to customers during the change of ownership, BASF added.

Additional details of the transaction were not disclosed.
