China’s Sinopec starts building new lubricant plant in Chongqing

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Sinopec started construction of a new 300,000 tonne/year lubricant facility at Chongqing in southwestern China on 18 December, the Chinese oil major said on Thursday.

The total cost of the project is yuan (CNY) 700m ($112) and in the first phase the company will complete construction of 215,000 tonne/year production capacity by 2014, it said.

Timeline of the second phase was not disclosed.

The new facility is a relocation and expansion over its existing lubricant plant at Chongqing, according to Sinopec.
