China’s May LLDPE futures fall 0.2% on slight market fluctuation

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) futures decreased by 0.2% on Thursday because of slight market fluctuation, industry sources said.

Spot domestic LLDPE prices in China were assessed at yuan (CNY) 11,000-11,300/tonne ($1,766-1,814/tonne) EXWH (ex-warehouse) on 20 December, unchanged from 19 December, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.

May 2013 LLDPE futures, the most actively traded contract on the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE), closed at CNY10,585/tonne, down by CNY25/tonne from the previous settlement price of CNY10,610/tonne on 19 December.

Around 1.25m tonnes of LLDPE, or 499,242 contracts, were traded for delivery in May 2013 on 20 December, according to the DCE data.
