TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of cast polypropylene (PP) film rose by 6.5% to 13,936 tonnes in November from the same period last year, according to official data from the Japan Polypropylene Film Industry Association on Thursday.
This reflected increases in domestic shipments and exports, the data showed.
The country’s domestic shipments of cast PP film was up by 9.5% year on year to 13,760 tonnes, while exports increased by 24% to 380 tonnes, according to the association.
Among the total for domestic shipments, 11,356 tonnes were used for food packaging, a 9.9% increase from the same time a year earlier, while 629 tonnes were shipped for industrial applications, a 5.3% increase, based on the data.
