Argentina’s Nov chemical production up by 5% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s November chemical production was up by 5.0% year on year, compared with the same month of 2011, industry sources said on Thursday.

Production of basic chemical products was down by 0.7% in November 2012 compared with the same month of the previous year, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.

Production of industrial gases was up in November by 1.4% year on year, the group said.

Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber was up by 9.1% in November compared with the same month of 2011.

Agrochemicals production increased by 13.% in November, while production of pharmaceutical products went up by 5.3% year on year.

Production of detergents, soaps and personal products declined in November by 2.5% compared with the same month of 2011.

Meanwhile, plastic products and rubber tyres production combined decreased by 0.5% in November year on year.

Rubber tyre production was up by 17.9%, while November production of plastic products  declined by 3.7% year on year, INDEC said.
