HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-based KBR and Saudi Arabia-based AYTB have signed a seven-year contract to provide maintenance services for Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company’s (SATORP) new world-scale refinery, the engineering firms said on Wednesday.
This is the first time a major participant in the Saudi Arabian hydrocarbon industry has outsourced a full-service maintenance contract.
“This contract could redefine how plant maintenance will be performed in the future,” AYTB’s CEO Abdulmohsen al-Ogaili said. “The partners are committed to realising the intended long-term benefits of this contract and demonstrate a model for delivering services which has not previously been tested in the kingdom.”
Services include management over mechanical, electrical and instrumentation disciplines, as well as subcontractor activities; executions and predictive programs; procurement of tools and equipment; and development or reliability and cost optimization programs.
