SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Wuxi Baichuan Chemical on 26 December restarted its 100,000 tonne/year ethyl acetate (etac) plant in Jiangsu province, a company source said on Thursday.
The plant was shut at the beginning of December because of poor demand and lack of offers, according to the source.
The company’s offer for etac stood at yuan (CNY) 6,000/tonne ($962/tonne) EXW (ex-works) on 27 December, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
Prices in east China have remained stable because of ample supply and weak demand in the domestic market, a market player said.
The spot prices of etac in east China were assessed at CNY5,900-6,050/tonne DEL (delivered) on 27 December, data from Chemease showed.
