SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s JX Nippon Oil & Energy plans to shut its Mizushima-based paraxylene (PX) unit in end-January for a scheduled 40-day turnaround, a company source said on Thursday.
The unit, which has a nameplate PX capacity of 350,000 tonnes/year, will be restarted in the first half of March, the source said.
The Mizushima-based PX unit is currently operating at 100%, the source added.
The aromatics major operates a total of eight PX facilities in Japan, with a total capacity of up to 2.57m tonnes/year.
