MEDELLIN, Colombia (ICIS)--An ethylene oxide (EO) plant at Petroleos Mexicanos’ (Pemex) Cangrejera Petrochemical complex in Veracruz suffered an explosion over the weekend, according to a source employed with the municipality of Coatzacoalcos.
The explosion occurred as the EO plant was being restarted, the source said.
There were no injuries reported.
Phone calls and emails for confirmation to Pemex were not immediately returned.
The state-owned oil company has halted production at the EO plant to start repairs, the source said.
