TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of caustic soda fell by 1.5% year on year to 292,824 tonnes in November 2012, official data from the Japan Soda Industry Association (JSIA) show late on Monday.
Internal demand for caustic soda decreased by 8.1% to 258,993 tonnes in November from the same time a year earlier, according to the JSIA.
Exports of caustic soda were down by 9.5% year on year to 29,154 tonnes, based on the data.
Meanwhile, output of liquefied chlorine – a co-product of caustic soda production – declined by 4.7% to 35,326 tonnes in November from a year ago, while internal demand for the product fell by 5.5% year on year to 35,231 tonnes.
