TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) in November 2012 increased by 9% year on year to 51,398 tonnes, official industry data showed on Tuesday.
Domestic shipments of VAM for the production of polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) rose by 6% to 36,780 tonnes, according to the Sakubi poval kogyokai (VAM PVOH industry association).
However, domestic shipments for adhesives fell by 24% year on year to 2,407 tonnes, while exports were up by 12% to 1,000 tonnes, the data showed.
Meanwhile, the country’s PVOH output increased by 9% to 19,741 tonnes in November, according to the association.
Domestic shipments of PVOH for vinylon fibres production rose by 30% year on year to 5,528 tonnes, while shipments for film declined by 16% to 332 tonnes, based on the data.
Japan’s PVOH exports increased by 33% to 8,510 tonnes, the data showed.
