NOON SNAPSHOT - Asia Markets Summary

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Here is Thursday’s midday Asia oil and chemical markets summary.

CRUDE: Feb WTI $93.49/bbl, up 39 cents/bbl; Feb BRENT $111.87/bbl, up 11 cents/bbl
Crude futures strengthened in the morning trade, supported by upbeat December trade data from China – the world’s second largest oil consumer.

NAPHTHA: $973-976/tonne CFR Japan, down $2.50-3.50/tonne
Open-spec second-half February contract eased in morning trading, tracking crude’s losses overnight.

BENZENE: $ 1,375-1,385/tonne FOB Korea, down $10/tonne
Prices continued to fall for the fourth consecutive session. Offers and bids for March shipments were lower, in line with softer markets in Europe and the US. Offers for March shipments were at $1,370/tonne FOB Korea, countered by bids at $1,335-1,361/tonne FOB Korea.

TOLUENE: $1,300-1,310/tonne FOB Korea, down $30-35/tonne  
Prices plunged, weighed down by lower offers for February and March cargoes at $1,310/tonne FOB Korea.

ETHYLENE: $1,320-1,350/tonne CFR NE Asia, up $10-20/tonne
Selling ideas were maintained at above $1,350/tonne CFR NE Asia, while buying ideas for February shipments were at $1,320-1,330/tonne CFR NE Asia.

PROPYLENE: $1,320-1,340/tonne CFR NE Asia, stable
Selling ideas were maintained at around $1,350/tonne CFR NE Asia and above, while buying ideas were unchanged in the low-$1,300/tonne CFR NE Asia levels.
