SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Here is Thursday's end-of-day Asia oil and chemical market summary from ICIS.
CRUDE: WTI FEB $93.75/bbl up 65 cents; BRENT FEB $112.30/bbl, up 54 cents
Crude futures gained further ground on Thursday afternoon, buoyed by positive December trade data from China which showed sizeable year-on-year increases in exports and imports. China is the the world’s second largest oil consumer.
NAPHTHA: $976-978/tonne CFR Japan, up $2-3/tonne
Open-spec second-half February contract rebounded in afternoon trading, tracking higher crude futures.
BENZENE: $1,385-1,395/tonne FOB Korea, up $10/tonne
Prices recovered losses in the afternoon session, with two deals settled between traders at $1,385/tonne FOB Korea and $1,390/tonne FOB Korea for March shipments.
TOLUENE: $1,315-1,330/tonne FOB Korea, up $15-20/tonne
Prices rebounded on the back of higher offers and bids, tracking the gains seen in benzene. Offers were at $1,328-1,330/tonne FOB Korea for February cargoes and $1,330-1,335/tonne FOB Korea for March parcels.
ETHYLENE: $1,320-1,350/tonne CFR NE Asia, stable
Buying interest remained largely unchanged at below $1,350/tonne CFR NE Asia while a price gap hampered trade as selling ideas were as high as close to $1,400/tonne CFR NE Asia.
PROPYLENE: $1,330-1,340/tonne CFR NE Asia, up $10 at the low end of the range
Some regional cargoes were heard changing hands at the above price range for arrival into China during the first half of February, market sources said.
