SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korean aromatics producer S-Oil plans to shut one of its Onsan-based aromatics facilities in April for around one month of maintenance, a company source said late on Wednesday.

The aromatics unit produces 300,000 tonnes/year of benzene and 900,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene (PX), the source said.

At the same site, the older aromatics plant that includes a toluene disproportionation (TDP) unit and reformer, producing about 260,000 tonnes/year of benzene and 700,000 tonnes/year of PX, will skip its annual maintenance this year, the source added.

S-Oil remains balanced for toluene supply condition, neither in a selling nor buying position.

Other key aromatics producers in South Korea are SK Global Corp (SKGC) and GS Caltex.
