SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Oriental Petrochemical (Shanghai) Corp restarted its 700,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit in Shanghai on 9 January after a brief maintenance shutdown, a company source said on Thursday.
The plant was shut on 2 January because of a mechanical outage of its compressor and restarted a week later, the source said.
“We have not achieved on-spec production yet and that is likely to take another day,” the source added.
China’s local PTA cargoes were discussed at yuan (CNY) 8,900-8,950/tonne ex-warehouse on 10 January, up by CNY220-250/tonne from a week ago amid tight spot availability, according to ICIS.
