SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Fujian Refining & Petrochemical, a subsidiary of Sinopec, has restarted its 400,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE)/linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) swing plant at Quanzhou in Fujian province on 10 January, a company source said on Thursday.
The company is currently operating its plant at 100% capacity, the source said.
The restart of the plant will increase the supply of LLDPE in south China, a major local trader said.
Some market players added that demand is expected to slow down in China ahead of the week-long Lunar New Year holiday starting on 9 February. A general expectation for downstream demand growth to remain weak further also dampened market sentiment.
