MELBOURNE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Sopo Chemical has further reduced the operating rate at its 500,000 tonne/year ethyl acetate (etac) plant in Jiangsu province to around 40% capacity, because of slow domestic demand, a company source said on Friday.
The producer cut its etac plant’s output to 40% capacity during the week from 45-50% capacity in December, because it expects domestic demand to stay slow until after the Lunar New Year holiday, the source added.
The Lunar New Year holiday in China falls on 9-15 February this year.
The producer has further cut its acetic acid output to 40-50% capacity in January from around 50% capacity in December 2012, the source added.
