SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Yisheng Petrochemical has achieved on-spec production at its new 2m tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit in Hainan province in early January, a company source said on Friday.
This followed a new round of trial runs at the plant that started in end-December, the source said.
Mechanical issues had foiled repeated attempts by the company to start up the plant since end-October 2012.
“We are running the unit at around 30% operating rate,” the source said, adding that the company plans to keep the low run rate for a while while because of poor market conditions.
Daily output from the unit is around 2,000 tonnes per day, according to a source close to the company.
