HOUSTON (ICIS)--US polycarbonate (PC) exports for November were up by 22% year on year, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Monday.
Exports increased to 24,753 tonnes from 20,227 tonnes in November 2011, the ITC said.
Year to date, PC exports were 383,153 tonnes, an increase of 7.6% from the same period in 2011.
Top destinations for US PC exports in November were Mexico, China and Canada.
Imports totalled 5,818 tonnes in November, up sharply year on year from 3,419 tonnes in November 2011.
Belgium, Germany and Canada were the top three ports of origin for PC material shipped to the US in November.
For the year, 60,371 tonnes have been imported, a year-on-year increase of 38%.
US producers of PC include Bayer MaterialScience, SABIC Innovative Plastics and Styron. Collectively, those PC producers have an annual capacity of 875,000 tonnes.
