HOUSTON (ICIS)--US paraffin wax (p-wax) imports in November increased by about 28% from the same month in 2011, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Monday.
US p-wax imports rose to 15,183 tonnes in November from 11,903 tonnes in November 2011.
Imports rose in November mainly because of increased product brought in from Japan.
November imports decreased from 16,246 tonnes imported in October.
Japan at 4,829 tonnes was the major source of US p-wax imports, followed by China at 4,749 tonnes, Canada at 2,010 tonnes and Malaysia at 1,845 tonnes.
Other sources included Saudi Arabia, India, Germany, Kuwait, Taiwan and The Netherlands.
The US exported 3,840 tonnes of p-wax in November, up from 2,747 tonnes in October.
Mexico at 1,399 tonnes was the major destination for US p-wax, followed by Taiwan at 1,246 tonnes and Canada at 1,037 tonnes.
Other destinations included France, China, Australia, United Kingdom, Brazil, Thailand and Argentina.
