US November styrene exports decline, while imports increase

HOUSTON (ICIS)--November 2012 styrene exports were at 101,044 tonnes, down by 27,240 tonnes or 21% from 128,284 tonnes in November 2012, according to data made available on Monday by the US International Trade Commission.

The November exports were also down by 29% or 40,489 tonnes from 141,533 tonne in October.

The top three destinations for US styrene in November were Mexico, Brazil and Colombia.

Meanwhile, November 2012 imports were at 48,215 tonnes, up by 2,955 tonnes or 6.5% from a year earlier. The November imports were also up by 28,747 tonnes, more than double the amount from October.

Canada has been the only source of US styrene imports in 2012.

Major US styrene producers include Americas Styrenics, Styrolution, LyondellBasell, Total and Westlake.
