HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of epoxy resins increased by 29% year on year, according to data made available on Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US November exports were 12,885 tonnes, up from 9,975 tonnes a year ago.
However, month on month exports fell by 32% from 19,024 tonnes in October.
Exports increased as US domestic prices held steady despite record-high upstream costs for benzene.
Sources said pressure from lower-priced import material kept US sellers from increasing their prices, keeping US material attractive to buyers.
On the import side, volumes fell by 9.1% year on year in November, to 5,450 tonnes from 5,994 tonnes.
Month on month, imports fell by 28% from 7,576 tonnes in October.
Major US epoxy resins producers include Dow Chemical, Huntsman and Momentive.
