US November urea imports up by 61% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US urea imports in November were up by 61% from the same month a year earlier, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Monday.

US urea imports rose to 691,246 tonnes in November from 429,626 tonnes in November 2011.

Imports rose in November mainly because of increased product from Oman.

November imports increased from 660,503 tonnes in October.

Oman at 190,309 tonnes was the major source of US urea imports, followed by Canada at 114,210 tonnes and China at 85,549 tonnes.

Other sources included Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Venezuela, Kuwait, Croatia, Estonia and Trinidad & Tobago.
