Start up of the Daesan plant, which has a phenol nameplate capacity of 300,000 tonnes/year and an acetone nameplate capacity of 180,000 tonnes/year, has been postponed because of freezing winter weather conditions, the source added.
"It would be impossible to start phenol production before the end of January," the source said. "We are aiming for an early-February commissioning of the Daesan plant."
The producer’s downstream bisphenol-A (BPA) plant in Daesan has a nameplate capacity of 150,000 tonnes/year.
LG Chem’s existing phenol/acetone plant in Yeosu can produce 300,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 180,000 tonnes/year of acetone.
The company’s No 1 and No 2 BPA units in Yeosu have a combined capacity of 300,000 tonnes/year.
